KP Goes Nuts for the WSOPeeeeeeeeee

Hi folks! Well, we’ve all survived another Paddy’s Day (just about!) and the days are, thank god, getting longer again so it’s time for all self-respecting poker players (and more than a few self-loathing ones too!) to start making plans to get to WSOPeeeeeeeeee

I spent a small fortune in trying unsuccessfully to qualify online for last summer’s $10,000 main event, before eventually making it through in a live satellite in the Rio mere hours before Day 1 started.

It was extremely stressful having to qualify only on the morning the main event kicked off, certainly not ideal preparation for poker’s ultimate test of stamina. My heart is still recovering from the palpitations I suffered when I went all-in near the satellite bubble with the suited 83 (clubs) and the Yank in the small blind hummed and hawed for what seemed like five minutes whether to call me before folding pocket 10s face-up!

So in order to ensure my smooth passage to WSOP 2006, I have kicked off a mega-6pakkathon on Betfair Poker! Its a great promotion, all you have to do is generate 28,000 in rake between February 20th and June 25th and Betfair will give you a full $15,000 package to WSOP (Click here for Deatils)

Now I haven’t been running very well in cash games this year, so I felt it would be too dangerous to risk my bankroll on them in my WSOP quest. Instead I have decided to play fulltime on the 6paks, so you will now find me playing at least 30 of these tournaments per day.

Taking up this challenge has proved to be a great blessing, it has supercharged my enthusiasm for the game. When I first started playing online, I played some multi-table tournaments, but sit-and-gos were my staple diet and I never had a losing month during my first year.

Having survived that first year in relatively good shape, I experimented more with other formats, yielding mixed results. I played a lot of multi-table tournaments and some cash games too, occasionally tilting wildly on cash tables and jettisoning a month’s wages in a night.

Now that I am back on the single-table tournament circuit, I feel so much more relaxed and confident playing again. There isn’t the same edge, the same adrenaline rush that I get playing a big cash pot, but I am really enjoying the fact that I am back to more disciplined ways. Sure, there will be days where I don’t feel like playing so much poker, but when that happens, I will just keep thinking about that $15,000 WSOP package at the end of the four-month rainbow and register for another couple of games!

And how can you help me? Well, it may become a tad tedious sometimes just playing Buzzer, Heffernan, ThierryH, Wallayayay and Terence game after game for the next few months, so please feel free to take me on at the 6pak tables you should find me most evenings in games ranging from 60 to 120 buy-ins.

And if you get a taste for them, maybe you’ll keep playing 6paks until you too have raked up a free $15,000 trip to Las Vegas in July!

See you all at the tables and then at the WSOPeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
